Supporting Other Currencies
Coindroids was always destined for the Bitcoin network, but after years of development (at the pace of a much-loved side project) by the time we were ready for launch, the Bitcoin network was no longer a good fit (damn fees!). Luckily, we wrote Coindroids to work perfectly on any UTXO currency, made evident by our love of Defcoin for the yearly DEFCON pilgrimage, and our eventual launch on the Litecoin network.
While we can support running Coindroids on-top of any UTXO base, we've been hesitant to support any and all for two pretty simple reasons. First, running a realm still adds extra resource requirements to our monthly spend ($$$), and more importantly, we didn't want to fragment our community too much. The first hasn't changed at all, but one thing we've started to notice is that most people seem to have their favourite coin, so adding additional currency realms to Coindroids wouldn't splinter our own community, it would include an entirely new community to enjoy our game.
To start the discussion of what to add, we ran a small poll pitting Dogecoin, Zcash, and Bitcoin Cash against each other. Somewhat unexpectedly, we ended up with a near tie, with Bitcoin Cash just edging out the lovable Dogecoin.
Do you want to see Coindroids support other compatible currencies? Let us know which!

We're still discussing these results amongst the team, but we've heard the respective communities that there is interest in both. Coindroids relies heavily on coins having good wallets across all platforms, low fees, and a community that's not full hodl, so we'll be reviewing each to see where the best fit is for our expansion.
If you've got an opinion of what currencies we should support, let us know on Twitter.
Coindroids is a game like no other. It is completely skill-based, played with coins, and played for coins. Your actions are transactions, so you must choose them wisely. If you'd like to learn more, we suggest you check out Introducing Coindroids (2017).
